82. Blieskastel to Trassem

We could have followed a flat river route today…but instead chose the ‘shorter’ route through hills.

Probably a mistake really…for it was not an overly pretty or  enjoyable ride with too much traffic.

It was surprising though how lots of ‘little hills’ (all relative really!) add up to quite a lot of climbing!!

We stopped for coffee to follow the second half of the All Blacks game against France. Not a very convincing victory…but it sounded like it was the TMO who kept it close!

The landscape improved dramatically when we did finally drop back down to the river…..

…and to the town of Saarburg…..

So pretty…..

….and out of nowhere…hordes of tourists!!

I could not find any accommodation here…so we stayed in a tiny village 3km away. A Gasthof had beers though…..& their Schweinesnitzel which was excellent!!!

We so nearly missed food…for the kitchen closed at 7.30!!

Times are a-changing….for dinner I mean..as we move North. It prompted me to wonder what time Germans eat. This map is really good!!!!!

I think I like Italy and Greece best!! Hahaha!

…but have a look at Norway!!! Really???

…I am thinking 2026!!! I do wonder with 24 hour light if one can simply change one’s clocks…& pretend it’s a reasonable 8pm for dinner..when it is in fact afternoon tea time!!! Worried? Yes..a bit!!!
