Today would have been…certainly…the best ride since the Alps! And I say would have been…for it was just MISERABLE…!!!
My longest ride ever in the rain!!
It did not stop raining for a minute!!
All day!! All 125km!!
Such a shame because I could see (just about through rainy glasses) how lovely it was!!
Our slightly eccentric landlady from last night had recommended that we visit the area around Mullerthal in Luxembourg.
The “Switzerland of Luxembourg” it is described….
So we did.
But it was so so wet!! This is my one photo around Mullerthal…

This is what it is supposed to look like!

Shame really! And that ‘disappointment’ continued through the day…as we travelled along lovely cycle paths…

Through some cute towns…

…as we criss-crossed back to Germany…
…. through some evidently lovely landscapes…

…& along some muddy paths…

…along some special rail trails…

Great biking country…!
A bit of work to do as the ascent number confirms…but…but for the rain it would have been a lovely day out!!
As it was… it was simply wet wet wet ALL DAY..!
And cold even!! Not a lot of fun at all!!
The temperature has plummeted 20 degrees within a day..our landlord happily advised when we finally made it to St Vith!!
This was the crossing point to Belgium!

It was a ‘shoes in the oven’ session….as our kitchen became a drying shed!
The apartment had a dryer (!! very unusual..!) so we dumped our wet and muddy gear straight into the washing machine complete with liquid hand soap !! (..no proper stuff!!).. but it worked!!!!
It had just about – but not quite – stopped raining when we went out…for our first taste of Belgian beer!!
(…bottled German Bitburger was actually a good deal cheaper…and a lot less alcohol!!!)
We watched tennis…sort of occasional tennis …for the Internet here..since we left Italy in fact…has been diabolical!
Just like NZ!
…whilst in Albania et al in the Balkans…it was spectacularly good!!
Ho hum
Anyway…it was frustrating…often-static watching!
Burgers for tea. Not great.
