Another big day today!!
And good distance made on the map…as we headed almost due South.
We got up early…6.30 breakfast….for we knew it was going to a big one!
Wondering how far our batteries might last (after yesterday!) when Martin realised he had not to charged up his second battery…which was 100% flat!!
Note on batteries…for those interested in long distance e-biking: over 23 days now…there has been only two days when both of us have not had to use our second battery!! We are interestingly in sync….! An essential addition…despite the weight!!
And on batteries…Bosch does rein supreme – in my view – with greater grunt, faster charging time and lighter! Particularly when compared with the (my new) Shimano battery. Less grunt…probably equal “capacity”/distance…but takes twice as long to charge….and weighs 50% more!!
Anyway…a quick plug-in and by the time we did leave he had 50% charge!! We left with fingers crossed..and Martin working harder than usual to save battery!). He also left his Kindle back in Krk…alas!!…..so understandably distracted and out of the habit of daily systems!
But what a day!!
No wind!!
And an extraordinary variety of landscape!!
It is late right now…so I am going to let the photos tell the story…but the really extraordinary thing about today…was the changing landscape.
Firstly…the tail-end (South end of Pag)…
….then these three photos were taken in the space of…2kms or less….!
Perhaps Croatia is the New Zealand of Europe..in that the landscape changes…so quickly!!
Not a bad coffee stop…..lakeside…(Karinsko)
We passed an enormous number of derelict houses…many half built (ie abandoned during construction)…it was quite weird. I can understand rural depopulation…but…the half-built houses were odd.
And…then…this…a classic (proudly paid for) EU waste of money…in the middle of these largely derelict villages. A stairway to nowhere..to enjoy the “view”.
What a lot of bollocks..when this photo…of the view…was taken without climbing the absurd stair.
Altogether a lovely ride…
and a slow cruise down hill to….
….to Skradin, a small town nestled on the lakeside (I was sure!)….but why on earth have a boat like this on a lake!? Imagine the transport costs!
That was the thought process…until we realised that we were not on a lake at all…but on an extended inlet from the sea!!
Lovely wee place……..
we were both fairly knackered…so enjoyed our beers…looking at this….!
Looks great!
Haha! was thinking the variety of landscape was like NZ when suddenly you mentioned that!
Go Martin, after all he’s been through. …..the photo of his Dad…..amazing resemblance just btw!!! ……poignant … 😍
