17. Huetor-Tajar to Caminito del Rey

Another big ride today….as we cycled West to he famous Caminito del Rey: a vertigo inducing walkway hanging off the cliff face!

First though….a classic sign at our first coffee stop:

I do not think anyone plans to chuck the toilet roll into the toilet….but is that what the sign really mean?

Anyway a lovely ride…

….with equine accompaniment…..

Google has been working really well in Spain…to find some great biking routes…but today it got a bit confused a couple of times. This railway was just too hard to cross!!

Interesting and large farming establishments en route…

…with a sting in the tail (some steep ascents!) at the end as we closed in our destination.

Lovely place….and this is our accommodation for the night! Very posh…but there really is nowhere else to stay (more on this below!).

So we dropped our bags etc…and went exploring.

This is the start of the famed walk….only to find you have to book….and no…no tickets available until late June!!!

But it was a lovely supplementary ride….

…..and back to our Posada for a quick shower…and early beers in the sun!

So…this hotel is our most expensive accommodation of the trip so far. And as is so often the case…it is probably the worst as well!! Tiny room…dark…no balcony…highly dodgy electrics…..no tea/coffee etc or hot water. And when I asked about food…they simply said no. The staff need a day off!! Weird really for a hotel in the middle of nowhere!!

But thankfully this place was open…serving the multitude of folk doing the walk!!
