16. Granada to Huetor-Tajar

A great sleep…and a slow start to the day as we gave ourselves the whole morning to have a quick look at Granada!

And yes…I think Granada remains my all-time-favourite Spanish city.

Full of life….

…..great cathedral…

……lovely old town…always with that wonderful backdrop of the Sierra Nevada

….and of course the Alhambra (which we could only view from a distance).

I was here nearly 50 years ago (FFS!)…and seem to recall just turning up. I am not sure if we had to buy a ticket even! And we had the place largely to ourselves!

But today you have to book months ahead to be joined by hordes of Chinese and American tourists. Not sure why I need to pick those two nationalities out…but really…en masse….they probably are the most irritating to be sharing great places with!!

So a lunchtime start…on what seemed like a wonderfully easy ride…after the last few days!

And…it was warm!! The first day of the ride we did not have to start with three layers. Full sun all day! Perfect!!

10kms of this….

….followed by 20kms of this….

…olives as far as the eye can see….plus lots of Asparagus here!)…

….to here! A small town west of Granada!! So small….can see both ends of the place from our apartment window!!
