15. Baza to Granada

An awful night’s sleep was not a good start!!

Worrying about today’s ride (bigger than yesterday!), with a face burning hot from yesterday’s wind, sore cracked heels, tired legs, cramp  in my feet….and an extended battle with my pillow! A pillow? Not really….a rock of a bolster which extended the full width of the double bed…and I like to sleep at the edge of my pillow….which was difficult without almost falling off the bed…or trying to bend the bolster. Like sleeping with a walrus!! I discarded it in the end…and found a cushion!!

But we made an early start….

….and it turned out to be the best day of riding yet. Lots of up…yes…but also lots of down…through a spectacular landscape all day!

A few obstacles….thankfully the gates were not locked…

….but should possibly have forewarned us about this!

……and then this!! No wonder it has been so cold….as our headwind has been blowing straight off the snow!! Amazing to see so much snow….so far South…in May! A big surprise to me…!

A couple of coffee stops in sweet villages on the way….

…..and otherwise…just spectacular landscapes….enjoyed from perfect…and empty roads!

And then Granada! Great approach to a lovely city!

We had to push the bikes up stepped streets to get to our accommodation in the old city…

…but worth it! Not a bad view from our roof terrace!

More beers….and lots more free tapas! Burgers to start today!! Again….no dinner required! Lively night!!

A late start tomorrow to allow sore bodies to heal…and to give time to wander the city. The Alhambra of course…..but unplanned as this visit was…no tickets are available to visit…until June!!
