I woke early….to silence! No rain!
But that delight did not last long….as the pitter patter of rain on a tin roof dampened the spirits somewhat! We were later told that they only really get two full days of rain a year in these parts! And it seems we have hit both of them!!
So we made the call once again…to go for a train! 25km to Elx…and it was really not too bad. Not as wetting as yesterday.
But we clambered aboard for the 50km ride to Murcia…where the rain seemed to have stopped! So we decided to go for it…for the 60km or so to Cartagena.
Lovely ride for 20kms or so though the hills…
…….but otherwise fairly ordinary riding on very wet roads dodging the worst of extensive surface flooding…with the rain now a mere drizzle.
It had stopped finally when we pulled into Cartagena…an impressive looking city…..and up to our central apartment!!
Difficult to take photos in the rain…but these are from our balcony! Now…this looks a like a strategically selected location…but the bar opposite was just…..serendipity!
Anyway…here we are for our second rest day! Interesting to have a look at how far we have come already!
