Not as early a start as we would have liked…but after a late arrival yesterday…not surprising really.
The first 20km around the North end of the Argolic Gulf…was fairly ho-hum…flat and a bit busy. But as the miles stretched from Napflion and we headed into the hilly coast it was just gorgeous. Up and down…with spectacular coastal views!
But the heat built far too quickly. By 9.30 in the morning…the temperature was already tipping over 40 degrees…well past the critical body temperature switch!!
…but thankfully it did seem to drop a little as we headed South…and became almost bearable!
But it was with some relief we pulled off the main road to amble through a lovely fertile valley towards our accommdation..
….where we arrived at 12.30! Naenae had done well. Lots of talk about sore bottoms (Shennaes’)….but she is going well (& very determined!)
Batteries on charge…and it was straight to the beach, just 400m away!…and two small beers afforded us access to beach chairs and umbrellas…so a very pleasant afternoon siesta…next to all-but perfect water!
The precipitous mountain just behind the beach..meant that the sun left early…so it was lovely having dinner with no shade etc necessary. Bed before 9…!! Both buggared…with a big day ahead…(& thankfully the temperatures are forecast to fall!!). That european heat wave had really not affected us until the last couple of days…but it seems to be heading East quite quickly!! Phew….!!
Hi Shanae, Welcome to the world of mad bikers! My sympathies on the sore bits- I know all about that! What a beautiful part of the world you are enjoying.
Cheers to you both, Jan
