A lovely meander along the coast first thing…when we found a bike path which sat right on the sea for around 15km.
Looks about right…..!!
Before we turned inland through a gap in those impenetrable mountains!
And started climbing!
Lakes and vineyards en route up to the border crossing into Bosnia i Herzegovina.
No spectacular changes for a while as we climbed still higher….before the plunge down into Mostar. And then things had changed. Churches still…but mostly mosques now, calls to prayer reverberating around the valley. It had been a big day…and once inland the temperature had soared (to around 35 degrees!)…so we were well knackered…and with a big day planned tomorrow!
Mostar itself is an interesting place…with that iconic bridge of course…..but the river is lovely and the old town a Unesco gem. We were here…what…ten years ago….and it has changed! Much more tourist tack (albeit not yet with many tourists!)…but a good place to visit all the same.
Interesting discussion with a Swiss guy who was applauding Brexit…thinking of how well it works for Switzerland. If only……! Great dinner in the old down in a traditional wee restaurant. Lamb skewers with peppers, chillies and cheese.
We had been in the country for no time when I received a message from my friendly French phone company to say that (after checking the map a few times)…I had used enough Internet to reach my limit of about one mb at a cost of 60 Euros (!!!!)…& (thankfully really) my account was blocked. And all after being told that yes of course Bosnia etc were covered in my plan for they were part of Europe. Alas not!! So upon arrival managed to secure a new local SIM and order was restored! Funny how today one is so totally reliant upon connectivity!!
