40. Skopelos to Glyfa

Departure day!!

After such a good week it was a bit of a wrench…particularly so early in the morning after a late last night! But Iain and I were on our way at 6.20…(despite a worrying flat tyre on Iain’s bike!!)

……in good time for our 7am ferry!!

…on which our bikes got a bit wet…..!

Meanwhile…..as we pulled into Skiathos on our way to Volos….

..we had left Liz and the team to return the hire cars and jump on their “8am” ferry!!

But as they watched the 7.25 ferry leave Skopelos…they all realised that no-one had actually checked the time of their ferry!! Hahahaha!

A moment of panic…about missed flights etc…until they discovered the local water taxi….departing from Agnontas!! (..where we had been staying!). So they enjoyed a pleasant cruise over to Skiathos!! And the cost was sufficiently modest….that ‘next time’…I would forego the ferry and take this direct route! So much simpler! Classic!!

For our part…we arrived into Volos bang on time….I picked up a new saddle bag (for tools etc) after mine had fallen apart!….and we set off on a very cruisy ride…sort of down the coast towards Glyfa.

There is Evia we thought…..(which lies opposite Glyfa)..

But no…still part of the mainland.

It is interesting how many road signs have been shot to pieces!!

And then over the top once again…and that IS indeed Evia in the background…

…then on the run down the Glyfa.

Iain and I found this place on the way to Athens three years ago..and Liz and I returned last year for a couple of days.

And really…this is why!!

With a delicious taverna just up the road!

super-friendly hosts at our accommodation….who greet us like long lost friends with big cuddles all round. What a gem!

And despite just having had a long break…you cannot stay here just the one night….!!!
