A shorter ride today! By ‘mad’ standards anyway!
But still a surprising amount of climbing….as we took the coast road, on the advice of our cycling fanatic host!
Not as gorgeous as the last few days of riding….but still lovely…as these pics confirm.

And so to Preveza…home to a no-bike tunnel!! But it is an essential link…otherwise requiring a 200+km detour around the Ambracian Gulf!

You have to love the sign….”Immersed tunnel”…! It does go under the sea….but…!

Shennae and I have been here before…..and were picked up by a very official “Emergency Support” vehicle…who spent his days picking up cyclists and ferrying them through the tunnel.
Today, there was no sign of the man with a van! So we had to make do with hitch-hiking. And within ten minutes a lovely guy in a ute…and crates of tomatoes….pulled up and happily loaded the bikes on the back.
And then loaded me on the back too!! I tried to get some photos…but I was sort of too close to the action…squeezed between bikes and tomatoes!

What a guy though….and he would not even let us pay for the tunnel toll.
And so on to Lefkada…..

…the Ionian island which is actually connected to the mainland by a causeway/bridge.
Martin and I have both rushed through this place prior…so we opted to stay in the town itself.
Nice town…but it does not really feel like a Greek island town…
Maybe its the bridge….

Maybe it’s the Lamborghini showroom!! Haha! On a Greek island?

It does have a huge marina…full of expensive boats…and it is less than four hours drive from Athens. But really??
So…some photos. Not a place I would return for my holidays…but pleasant enough.

Give me Parga any day!!
Or…..tomorrow….Ithaca!!!
