64. Santiago de Compostela

Two months to the day since John and I left!

John to NZ…..me to Milan, Skiathos and Skopelos (to meet Liz and Jude), and on to Evia (surely the most under-rated and proportional-to-population least-visited of the Greek islands)….before flying back to Collioure for a month or so.

Liz left on Wednesday…Shennae arrived from Central America on Friday…and two days later we were back on trains and planes for the return trip to Santiago. Or in French….St Jacques!! Quite a difference really…and might explain the vacant expressions in Collioure when I was explaining that we had left our bikes in Santiago!!

I thought I had seen all the cheap-airline tricks to screw money out of you but Vuelling have a new one up their sleeve! We tried to check in on line…but no joy…because all the on-line unallocated seats were exhausted! So we either had to pay for a seat…or join the queue and check in at the airport!! Haha…when Ryan-bus charges you 50 Euros to do exactly that!! Weird! We queued!

The bikes have now been serviced (& cleaned!!)… and we are ready to get back on the road .

So a nice quiet day…with slow preparations and a chance for Shennae to have a look around the city.

Anyway…lovely beers…and simple food in the quiet plaza near the university…and we both in bed by 9.30!
