After another wonderful breakfast….we set off…
…on the road to Marrakech!
After yesterday’s grind…today was easy!
Slightly downhill all the way.
Milestones: I like milestones! a reminder of times gone by when life was slower and every mile counted. As it does here…with most folk walking everywhere…or on the back of a donkey. But today…they are usually just corporate-speak words in a too-fast world. Here…they are freshly painted and cherished. Only 41kms to go….to another cycling milestone: London, Rome, Athens, Istanbul…and today Marrakech!!
A last coffee before we hit the city…still – note – wearing warming top layers!!
And somehow we found simply the best route into the city! Here, we are less than 3km from the centre!
Quiet roads…..
…..and then we turned a corner…and bang! Everything changed. A relatively small area packed full of tourists, traders, hustlers, monkeys on chains….
…..and Jemaa el-Fnaa…probably the most iconic square of Marrakech.
We were wondering where to take our “destination” photo. Athens and Istanbul were relatively easy choices….so this just had to do!
We made it! 2,408 kms on the clock! And no major issues at all!
Time to find our apartment (on the fourth floor with a too-small lift!!)….relax….find a beer…(hugely expensive here!!)….
..so we found somewhere else for another….and many more….and some food!
Yeeeeha!
Well done. You made it…. There. Now home. Looks uphill on the map!
You made it!! 🥳Well done lads 😍
But wait…. no photos of you 🎶blowing smoke rings from the corner of my mouth🎶
But then you did get there by bike not the express!
You’ll have to 🎵save all your money just to take me there 🎵next!!
Moth, you truly do have a song for every occasion!!
Well done! Loved following along
Well done team! Monumental effort especially given the lack of the required refuel stations 🍻🍻 !!!
