Our first Moroccan rest day is in Meknes about 200km away. But today\u2026.we the made the beer- & accommodation- dependent decision to split the journey 70\/130km\u2026and stop near Ouezzane!\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So with a relatively short day ahead\u2026we were able to enjoy a leisurely & delicious breakfast!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the clouds!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The clouds had dropped\u2026.and indeed did not lift until well after we finished the ride! Great for cycling temperature (yes\u2026still riding with a jacket for most of the day!)\u2026but not so good for sunny photos!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Classic road sign! Drive too fast\u2026.and you might just take off!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

We dropped down a long distance today\u2026through relatively deserted and very green hills. If you saw this\u2026not many folk would guess that it was Morocco!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

A welcome coffee stop\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

\u2026lots of donkeys on the road-side\u2026and a surprising number of cowherds looking after just TWO cows!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

And so to our overnight stop! What a weird one! Really a lunchtime stop for tourist buses\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

\u2026.but also a Moroccan motel\u2026which serves beer!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

So a relaxed afternoon\u2026updating the blog\u2026.and reading\u2026before a big day tomorrow!! (My bike managed the trip today on just one battery\u2026so at least that is no longer a worry!).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So back to that Moroccan motel: when we checked in we were advised that we would get a 20% reduction at the restaurant! Yeeha! The relatively high room rate probably merited that and as guests they did not have to give that 20% to the tour guides who are evidently paid to stop here..given the hordes! 20% off everything, we were assured! But soon we discovered that no\u2026water did not count, nor tea, nor coffee\u2026nor beer! Alas! Nor – in fact – food\u2026unless you ordered \u201ceverything\u201d (ie the full menu of the day!) Great scam! We had a discussion about that as you night imagine\u2026and they did relent\u2026a bit!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No power points in the rooms\u2026rock-hard horsehair mattresses\u2026in fact there is no-one else staying here!! Haha\u2026probably not surprising! Cavernous rooms though!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Is the beer worth it? <\/p>\n\n\n\n
