Haha\u2026Strava congratulated me on my longest ride ever!! (\u2026just nice to have the complete picture!)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The original Sardinia plan had been two days up to Bosa for a rest day there before continuing on to Porto Torres. But with two long ferry-ride rest-days either end of our Sardinia ride\u2026we had opted to ride for all four days (and explore the South West corner of the island\u2026Buggerru!).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But four days in extreme heat had taken its toll I think\u2026and Alan was well Buggered. Bugger Me!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So a full day of enforced rest on the ferry was a welcome reprieve! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

An early start though as alarms were set for 5am\u2026.to give us waking-up\u2026and cafe-breakfast time before check-in\u2026.for our 7.15am departure. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We needn\u2019t have hurried\u2026for the ferry only pulled in at around 7.15 (en route from Civitavecchia)\u2026so our long ferry day had just got at least an hour longer!! (Interesting to watch how over 400 cars and trucks can be unloaded and loaded up again\u2026all within an hour!)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another Grimaldi ferry. Not as nice as our Palermo\/Cagliari boat\u2026.\u00a0We did have a chuckle at Grimaldi\u2019s proud line about in-port emissions!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Swimming pool closed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cabin just as good though\u2026so we both had a bolt-hole for chilling, reading, sleeping in between wandering, snacking, smoking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A long day though\u2026pulling into Barcelona 90 minutes late at around 9.30pm\u2026ready for an 8km dash to find our accommodation in the fast-fading light! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indeed just as we left the port, a policemen on a big motorbike pulled alongside me, and told me to switch on my back light. I had one! He had just ridden past Alan without slowing\u2026for Alan did not have one, so nothing to ask him to turn on! Haha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was a hectic ride\u2026through a busy Barcelona on a Friday night\u2026.but map memory worked for most of it..and we were into the apartment by around 10.15. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beer time\u2026at a thankfully very close neighbourhood cafe! Kitchen was closed but they still managed to come up with a plateful of delicious salamis, cheese and tomoto\u2019ed bread!! <\/p>\n\n\n\n
