A rare treat today\u2026with breakfast at the hotel\u2026and an omelette instead of the usual sweet pastry! So a slightly delayed start\u2026which we would pay for later!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A gentle climb out of Buggerru to start, and an amble along the coast \u2026.before we left the SP83\u2026and headed into the hills off-road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Great country\u2026but quite a steep and challenging ride it turned out to be. The track was bad enough\u2026but in parts they were making repairs\u2026using the local earth\u2026which was in reality sand! And bikes and sand\u2026really do not mix. Slipping and sliding\u2026we really felt in the middle of nowhere!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Thankfully it did not last as long as feared\u2026and before long we were back on firm ground and a nice hilly road!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

It had been hugely slow progress however\u2026and by midday we were but 40km on, and both well into our second batteries with over 60km to go!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

But that last 60km turned out to be dead flat\u2026and mostly dead straight! So less battery stress, more\u2026boredom\u2026as we crossed what is perhaps the most fertile plain\/valley in Sardinia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And it was hot! Seriously hot! Not a great few hours!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There were a few bird interludes\u2026.great flocks of egrets\u2026and a few more familiar sights\u2026..<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Alan is not a great one for off route diversions\u2026but today I think he was happy as we diverted a few kms off the route\u2026to the beach 10km shy of our destination. Quite a relief really to be out of the sun for a bit\u2026and I needed a quick recharge too! A funny wee place\u2026but it was so good to leap into the sea\u2026.and cool down!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And so on to Orsitano to complete a very hot and our second consecutive double-tonner! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A great welcome into our lovely apartment\u20266pm by now!\u2026.two speed showers\u2026and before long we were had wandered into this nice wee town\u2026and were sat outside this great wee pizzeria.

The \u2018world champion\u2019 pizza maker was not cooking today\u2026but his son was (well, that was a guess\u2026but it was certainly a family business!)\u2026and we enjoyed plentiful beers and the best pizza of the trip!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
