A day of two halves today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Firstly a glorious 50km ride through to Tekirdag\u2026..<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2026.along the coast\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

\u2026.and then a battery-sappingly steep climb up into hills<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Glorious scenery\u2026.and an almost deserted road\u2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

\u2026..before plummeting down to Tekirdag where we had a good long break at a seaside cafe. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

We had been tempted to have a beer\u2026but there was none available! (..probably a good thing\u2026!)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My bum is a bit sorer today\u2026and has been over the past couple of days. Something I have put down to\u2026..my long johns!! One tiny seam in the wrong place\u2026or a \u2018new\u2019 place\u2026and then rub it\u2026approximately 20,000 tomes per day (..that is 20,000 pedal turns, give or take!)\u2026& even the tiniest bump can start to cause a bit of irritation! To be fair\u2026it was warmer today\u2026so maybe\u2026just maybe\u2026today will be the last long john day\u2026!! Here\u2019s hoping!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And after Tekirdag\u2026..there was no choice but to rejoin the motorway!! No worries really\u2026.with that wide shoulder\u2026for slow tractors\u2026and us!! And we sped across the map really quite quickly\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Only 90km to Istanbul!! (\u2026a bit further on our route\u2026but we have opted to make it two short days\u2026.so we can deal with the traffic\u2026and arrival etc\u2026.. without rushing)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2026.to arrive at our overnight stop in Marmara Ereglisi. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

And we pulled up at our \u2018booked\u2019 hotel\u2026\u2026but they had no record of any such booking\u2026and quoted us a price 20% cheaper than I had prior agreed to pay!! Haha! Strangely\u2026\u2026Booking.Com does not work here. Another of Turkey\u2019s weird internet controls. (eg\u2026you can watch youtube\u2026.but you cannot see nor make any comment, Iain advises). So I had registered with the Turkish equivalent! Evidently it does not work so well!! It seems that the way to go is just to turn up! And I probably could have negotiated a cheaper price (another all-but-empty hotel!)\u2026but I was      not unhappy with the win\u2026so it seemed a bit churlish to haggle!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Quite a nice place really. Beach\u2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
