A well-earned lazy day today.
A very long lazy breakfast, some comms, and then a wander around the Medina.
A fantastic place to completely lose oneself…as it is a rabbit-warren of lanes and passageways.
Impressive though for its simplicity….lack of hassle….
….and the almost complete lack of tourists.
Except here! Somewhat bizarrely!
I say that because almost all of the major sites here are undergoing a massive refurbishment programme? So everything is closed and covered with hoardings…to let you know what it is supposed to look like! A bit of a shame at one level (certainly for the tour groups I saw here!) but I am not a good tourist on these biking trips, preferring instead to simply soak up the atmosphere.
And espy mind-boggling mannequins! What a classic!
And make some memories!
It does remind me of Fes of 46 years ago..but change is evidently in the air here with the huge refurb programme….as I understand has already happened in Fes. So…if in Morocco…yup, Meknes (& Volubilis…alas!) certainly worthy of a visit!
