Not far to go at all today…just back over the island..to our departure port of Kissamos. So a very lazy morning….doing little but emails, reading…even sleeping a bit!
And then just as it was getting really quite warm…we headed off back up the hill!!
Given her work with “illegal” small-boat assylum-seekers in UK…Nae was tickled by this piece of graffiti en route…
…and then it was back to that delightful wee cafe. She however misunderstood our request for two Frappes…and arrived with two huge buckets of Greek coffee!! And snacks…and apricots…..and honey-drizzled cheese pie fingers…..! Yum!
Shortly thereafter we were on a different road to yesterday…climbing back over the hills!
And then……a complete surprise….we arrived at Topolia Gorge.
Spectacular….
…complete with tunnel! (Thankfully Martin is not here! …actually not too bad for traffic light controlled so one way at a time!)
And a giant raptor appeared! A golden eagle perhaps…but looking it up, it looks more like the rare Bearded Vulture. Huge wingspan….not such a great picture!
And so to Kissamos (otherwise known as Kastelli). A funny wee place…..and much smaller than I had expected. Sort of trying to be a tourist resort…..but not really yet succeeding. Perfectly nice beach though.
Watching folk taking photos of themselves can be simply hilarious!! This couple were at it for 45 minutes….no exaggeration!!
We both had the same negative thought…involving polish…and turds!
Not sure they were very happy either!
Nae tried too….outside the gyros place. Better, I think!!
