I generally have a rule. On rest days…I do not get on a bike!! (That would appropriately be called a busman’s holiday!)
And last year…we broke that rule just the once…to go for a ride around the awesome Meteora Monasteries.
And today was another exception. To be fair…when we canned the motorway ride to Fetihye…we decided that an extra day of cycling in Rhodes would surely be more fun.
So this was that day. And what a day. One of the best day rides ever! 100km…lots of climbing…around Rhodes’ highest peak (Attavyros)…with views to die for…and roads to die for! All roads seemed all but new…beautifully surfaced…and barely a vehicle in sight. Beautiful descents.
Altogether a great day. But we didn’t go anywhere. We just cycled. So I will let the photos do most of the talking……
And so surprising that there was no-one cycling. Now – after my comments about Turkey – this would be a great cycling holiday destination!
Nearly back…and we stopped by Lindos…one of Rhodes’ tourist hot spots…and you can see why! Very pretty! (..but very busy!! Compared to the completely deserted and equally beautiful hinterland..!!).
Great long cool swim to finish a lovely day.
Oh…and a few beers…to celebrate settlement of Bartlett’s Green! (..even some business going on….its not all just holiday you know!! Hahaha)
